Lemonade !!!

The tip of the day :

When life gives you lemons,

 

 make lemonade!

 

Meaning:    We can’t eat a lemon itself,

as it is very sour.

We can add sugar, though,

 and make a sweet drink.

 

 

 

In real life, this expression means

that if you experience something bad in life, 

try to turn it into a positive experience!

Expressions with fruits !!!

Here are a few expressions

with fruits in English :

To compare “apples and oranges” is to uselessly compare unlike things.

to be the apple of somebody's eyes = to be loved very much by somebody.

To be a “bad apple” or a “rotten apple” is to be a bad person. 

to upset the apple cart = do something that spoils somebody's plans.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away = (proverb) apples are so healthy that if you eat one every day, you will never need to visit the doctor. 

To “go bananas” is to become excited or crazed, and “to drive (someone) bananas” is to annoy or irritate someone.

“Life is a bowl of cherries” means that life is easy.

a second bite of the cherry = (GB) a second chance to do something.

sour grapes = something that you really want but you can't have, and so you say that you don't want it.

To say that someone or something is a “peach” means that they are beautiful, excellent, or sweet.

Η σκηνή του .......... διαβάσματος !!!

Θα ξεκινήσω σήμερα με μια ερώτηση :

Αρέσουν τα εξωσχολικά βιβλία στο παιδί σας ;

Αν η απάντηση είναι ναι , πολύ χαίρομαι γι αυτό !

Θα σταθώ στην περίπτωση της αρνητικής απάντησης !

Δεν είναι λίγες οι φορές που απελπισμένες μητέρες 

με έχουν πλησιάσει και στο πιο πάνω ερώτημα , 

δίνουν αυτήν τη χαρακτηριστική απάντηση : 

 « Μα , τι μου λέτε κά Αμαλία , εδώ ούτε το διάβασμα για το σχολείο 

δεν θέλει να κάνει , εξωσχολικά βιβλία θα διαβάσει ; !!!»

Κι αυτές με τη σειρά τους με ρωτούν :

«Τι μπορούμε να κάνουμε , ως γονείς ,

για να κάνουμε το παιδί μας να αγαπήσει

την ανάγνωση ενός εξωσχολικού βιβλίου ;»

  

Η απάντησή μου πάντα η ίδια :

« Δείξτε του το καλό παράδειγμα

και δώστε του χώρο και όσο χρόνο χρειάζεται ... »

Καταλαβαίνετε ότι το καλό παράδειγμα ανάγνωσης ενός βιβλίου , 

το δίνετε εσείς οι γονείς !!!

Τα παιδιά μιμούνται τις κινήσεις και τις συμπεριφορές των μεγάλων.

Αν θέλετε το παιδί σας να διαβάζει βιβλία, 

πρέπει πρώτα να δει εσάς να το κάνετε !!!

ΛΟΓΙΚΟ !!!

Για το χρόνο που χρειάζεται κάθε παιδί , 

δεν θα μιλήσω γιατί απλά και μόνο , 

είναι πολύ υποκειμενικό και διαφέρει από παιδί σε παιδί ....

κάποιο θα μιμηθεί πιο νωρίς , άλλο αργότερα !!!

Θέλω να σταθώ στο θέμα του χώρου 

και να σας προτείνω μια ιδέα για μια καταπληκτική κατασκευή 

που κανένα παιδί δεν θα μπορεί να αντισταθεί !!!

Η σκηνή ...... του διαβάσματος !!!!

Τα υλικά πολύ απλά , μπορείτε να τα βρείτε παντού !

Λίγη δεξιοτεχνία με τα εργαλεία χρειάζεται και πολλή φαντασία .......

Και μετά το παιδί σας δεν θα ξεκολλά από τα βιβλία !!!

The musical chairs game in a foreign language classroom !!

The beneficial part in learning process when using 

kinaesthetic approach ,

 that is movement in a foreign language classroom 

is very well-known .

I strongly recommend the musical chair as one of the best 

activities to use in which movement plays an integral and important 

part in the learning process .

I will explain the reasons .

First of all , musical chairs is a game , 

a very friendly game to all young learners . 

Every game played in the classroom relieves from stress , 

encourages all the young learners to interact , 

to actively participate in the learning process by playing !!

This particular game not only help the teacher teach everything has to be taught ( new vocabulary , new grammar rule etc ) through playing ,but also teaches them the internal value of cooperation , of socializing , of sharing !

Secondly , by applying this game to a multilingual classroom , 

the learners will be very happy and actively participate in this 

activity ( so subconsciously to his/her learning process ) simply 

because they would love the movement part . 

As it is known, foreign language learners can learn better the 

language patterns with the kinaesthetic approach , that is by 

walking , dancing, crawling etc , 

all those funny movements done in the classroom !

Thirdly , I have to mention here that musical chairs games 

has a strong effect on them through music , of course ! 

Music plays a tremendous role on the psychics of every child ! 

Imagine that in a foreign language classroom .

The child, when he/she listens to the music in a multilingual 

( and monolingual ) foreign language classroom , 

he/she feels at ease, very relaxed and happy ! 

He/she is now more flexible and open to new 

knowledge than before . 

Also, something else is taught through the music chairs game . 

They are able to distinguish the different rhythms of the music

 ( they know when to dance and when to stop and look for an empty chair to sit on ) . 

This help them with the phonological awareness in a new language 

taught leading to a better perspective of both the receptive and 

expressive parts and in the receptive part of the foreign language.

Try to play this game in your foreign language classroom 

and I hope you will have the results you desire .

Learn English with story stones !!!

Μια ιστορία από ....... πέτρα !!!

Ύστερα από την μεγάλη απήχηση που είχε  

« η πέτρινη αλφαβήτα » , 

σήμερα σας έχω μια εξίσου καταπληκτική ιδέα .

Ιστορίες από .....πέτρα !!!

Ναι , ναι , καλά ακούσατε !!!

Θα φτιάξουμε δικές μας ιστορίες από πέτρες 

και θα κάνουμε το μάθημα αγγλικών 

ακόμα μια φορά να μοιάζει με παιχνίδι .

Όπως σας είχα πει και την προηγούμενη φορά , 

θα πρέπει καταρχήν να έχετε πλύνει και στεγνώσει 

πολύ καλά τις πέτρες που θα χρησιμοποιήσετε .

Στη συνέχεια , 

θα χρειαστείτε μπόλικη δόση τρέλας 

και φαντασίας !!!

Μπορείτε να ζωγραφίσετε διάφορα θέματα στις πέτρες σας ,

 π.χ. τα ζώα , τα χρώματα , τα μέλη μιας οικογένειας κτλ .

Αν δεν έχετε ταλέντο στη ζωγραφική , μην στεναχωριέστε!!!

Σας έχω τη λύση !! 

Μπορείτε να κολλήσετε φωτογραφίες από περιοδικά , 

μπορείτε να βάλετε τα παιδιά σας να ζωγραφίσουν 

σε χοντρό χαρτόνι και στη συνέχεια τα 

κολλάτε με δυνατή κόλλα πάνω στις πέτρες.

Αφού τελειώσει το δημιουργικό κομμάτι με τις πέτρες , 

είναι ώρα να βάλετε τη φαντασία σας από κοινού 

να δουλέψει για να φτιάξετε τις πιο αστείες, 

τις πιο ανατρεπτικές, τις πιο απίθανες ιστορίες από ....πέτρα !!!

Περιμένω να δω την δική σας προσπάθεια με φωτογραφίες 

από τις πέτρινες ιστορίες που εσείς δημιουργήσατε !!!

Pipe cleaners letters and words !!!!

A multi-sensory teaching approach in a foreign language classroom .

Multi-Sensory approaches teach reading

and writing (including spelling) through using Auditory

(hearing), Visual (sight) and Kinaesthetic

(movement/touch) pathways. This gives multiple pathways

for the information to reach the brain.

Teaching and learning in this way is an exciting

 journey of discovery. It is a fast paced and creative

process where learning is fun since each small step is

mastered and the learner is aware of what they have gained.

A multi-sensory teaching approach that I like a lot is :

Pipe Cleaner Letters

Stock your class with pipe cleaners of various colours.

While you teach the children the letters of the alphabet, help

them bend the pipe cleaners into each letter. Provide the

children with large cut-outs of each letter so they have a

form to follow as they shape their pipe cleaners.

Instruct the children to run their hands along the

pipe cleaner from start to finish. Tracing the pipe cleaner

 helps the children create a tactile imprint of each letter.
